Coffee needs a natural environment and favorable conditions for its growth and development, such as a warm climate, but with high humidity, and shadow. One of the best indicators of a healthy coffee plantation is its fauna, especially the birds, since, if they decide to make it their habitat, it means that it is a welcoming place for them and with enough resources for their subsistence. The work “Hábitat” represents, precisely, the coffee plantation as a home for these species, which not only inhabit it, but also offer ecosystem services that feed it back. The Puerto Rican "zumbadorcito" that can be seen in the work is one of the species that brings the most benefit to our coffee plantations, feeding mainly on nectar and insects, thus contributing to the pollination process and the control of pests that affect coffee crops.
That "zumbadorcito" bird is not very different from us, because in the same way we look for a healthy environment to live and develop, and, for this, we need to pollinate and cultivate our lands, and control the social pests that threaten their well-being. For, in the end, we are the ones who enjoy, not just a good cup of coffee, but all the benefits, resources, and conditions that constitute our habitat.
